Building pollutants

Many buildings that were built before 1991 may have asbestos-containing components. Furthermore, PAH* can be found in roofing felt or asphalt surfaces. PCB ** are often found in joints. Lead paint and other materials containing heavy metals have also been used until recently. Therefore contaminated components must be identified and rehabilitated previously to conversion or demolition work.
