RPS Health Safety and Environment was commissioned by an international purchaser to undertake Phase 1 Environmental Liability Review of 10 Hilton hotels in Europe and RPS commissioned CSD ENGINEERS SA for the audits in France, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Germany. The principal aim of the review was to determine whether there is potential for pollution or other environmental impacts to be present which would significantly give rise to the risk of significant environmental liability or may cause a significant depreciation of the building price.

  • Desk study: historical information, environmental practices like waste water discharge, solid waste, storage, air emission …
  • Site visit to assess environmental impact or potential no-compliance towards the applicable rules.
  • Review of the environmental setting (geology, hydrogeology) to assess the sensitivity of the surrounding environment to contamination.
  • Visual diagnostic of asbestos and PCB’s.
  • Identification of the problem or environmental critical points.
  • Redaction of report who details the findings of assessment in terms of existing and potential identified issues.
  • Prioritization of environmental impact (low, conservative, significant).
  • Proposition and prioritization of recommendations to improve the situation and presentation of costs associated to these recommendations.
